Larry Garron is probably best known for his athletic prowess. He was a standout player at Western Illinois University and had a successful career as a running back with the Boston Patriots (Now known as the New England Patriots) professional football team from 1961-1970.

Mr. Garron also worked as a professor and department chair of the business school at Bunker Hill Community College.

On 3 August 2014, he was one of a few who received a unique and unusual honor from Nidai Soke Okuyama, a certificate bestowing nanadan (7th level or grade) reserved for those who have demonstrated exemplary dedication and hard work over the years toward the support of Hakkoryu.
